Answers to the most common questions about our switchable smart glass films — from control and installation to technology and operation.
They can be dimmed by remote control or dimmer switch.
If the film is not switched for 3–4 days, that is not a problem. But it should not be the norm. If it happens regularly, the film will switch on and off more slowly.
If the temperature is lower, the switching cycle slows down. If the temperature is exceeded, the film turns clear rather than opaque.
On the film side, the resolution of the projected image is blurred. On the opposite side of the film, the resolution is sharp.
Working temperature for FilmyFolie: −20 to +60 degrees.
Service life: > 80,000 hours in ON mode. Switching cycles: > 2 million.
Sound attenuation is 35 dB.
One m² of film weighs roughly 0.90 kg.
Height 3000 mm, width 1800 mm = 1790 mm maximum film width.
The thickness of the welded joint is roughly 0.7–0.8 mm.
6 mm.
A cable up to 15 metres long can be run to the transformer.
No. They have no overheating protection, which is mandatory for installation in furniture. Transformers built into furniture must switch off automatically at a set temperature.
No, the transformer is designed for 230 V only.
No, because the material is too unstable.
Since we do not alter the properties of the fire door, the film can be applied to it. In this case the film always goes on the side facing away from the fire.
Free choice.
Clear silicone only.
Yes, this can be done with a small accessory such as a drag chain or cable bridges.
The customer should clarify this with their window fitter and electrician. One option is to run the cables in a cable tray system. Please note: with this system the cables hang down the side of the sliding door like a drag chain and are permanently visible.
½ mm around the perimeter. The thickness of the welded joint is roughly 0.7–0.8 mm. If it does not fit with 2× 0.76 mm EVA, a third EVA sheet must be added.
Leave a 1 mm chamfered edge from the start. Protect the soldered joint and apply insulating tape to prevent conductivity. Place a U-profile over the soldered joint and route the wires to the hinge side so the wires can cross over.
The expansion joint is sprayed with silicone, lightly trimmed and cleaned; after installation the silicone is carefully reapplied at the edge and in the groove.
